When urbanites in Metro Manila think about a weekend escape south of the sweltering, busy metropolis, a few classic getaways come to mind. The refreshing hillside town of Tagaytay. The charming Taal Volcano and its surrounding lake. The golden beaches of Tali and Nasugbu. These are just some of the top places that define a southern escape.
There’s one other place that’s often overlooked: Batulao – a pleasant, hilly stretch of land whose famed peak, Mount Batulao, is a gateway for climbing, hiking, and biking trips. Batulao offers an enjoyable outdoor experience for nature lovers and is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila. Its grassy hills, elegantly contoured landscapes, and breathtaking views are great rewards for those who enjoy trekking off the beaten path and exploring the great outdoors.
It’s little wonder then, that Century Properties has chosen Batulao as the venue for its major vacation-residential development. The remarkably beautiful natural features of Batulao make for an interesting setting for Batulao Artscapes, described as a “livable art and adventure park.”
Sound like your cup of tea? Batulao Artscapes offers a wide range of designer homes in various sizes and styles, as well as a host of facilities and amenities, including a man-made lake and beach, restaurants and retail choices, an art park, museums, a sports center, jogging trail, and open spaces for kids.
How to get there
That said, it’s not enough to just know how cool this place will be. The next question is – how do you get there?
Batulao is literally sandwiched between Tagaytay and Nasugbu, around 80 kilometers south of Metro Manila. As an in-between location, it is ideal for residents who can turn one way to get to the cool vistas of Tagaytay, or another to experience the warm and welcoming beach. Both are roughly a 20-minute drive from Batulao Artscapes.
Getting there from Metro Manila is not rocket science. At present, there are four main routes going to Batulao you might want to explore:
- Via DAANG HARI (the scenic route)
- Cavite to Ternate to Nasugbu-Kaybiang Tunnel going to Batulao
- Via STAR TOLL (the eastern route)
- Tanauan Exit to Talisay-Tagaytay Road and Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road going to Batulao
- Via SLEX (currently the fastest route)
- Southwoods/Carmona/Santa Rosa/ Eton City Exit to Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road going to Batulao
- Via CAVITEX (the straightest, but not necessarily the fastest)
- Marigondon then Nasugbu-Tagaytay Road going to Batulao
You can even choose your route according to your mood. Wish to get there ASAP? Take the SLEX route and get to Batulao in just a couple of hours. Up for a more scenic drive? The Daang Hari route will take you through winding roads and even lets you pass through a tunnel.
New roads coming soon
As developments continue to progress in the cities surrounding Metro Manila, traffic in these areas is expected to build up.
As such, the government has invested in road infrastructure projects south of Metro Manila to improve accessibility from the main cities and bypass smaller road passageways. According to the DPWH plan, construction for these roads will start this 2019 and would take 2-3 years to complete:
CTBEX (Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas Expressway Project)
This 49-km expressway is seen to cut travel time from Metro Manila to Tagaytay and Batangas. On an average day, road travel from Metro Manila to Tagaytay could take 2.5 hours. With the CTBEX in place, one can expect to reach Tagaytay in less than 1 hour from Manila. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
NLEX-SLEX Connector Project
The thought of traversing EDSA just to reach SLEX from the end of NLEX is a commuter’s nightmare. Breaking down the boundaries between north and south seem unimaginable. With the pending completion of the NLEX-SLEX Connector in 2021, travel time between the two major fairways will be reduced from 2 hours to just 20 minutes!
Traveling to the south will soon be a breeze. Future homeowners in Batulao Artscapes can experience a more relaxing land trip and get more quality vacation time in this expansive artventure community, especially when all these road projects are completed.
